Shakhsuvar Qarajayev

Shakhsuvar Qarajayev is a 65-year-old farmer who raises vegetables in the southern region of Azerbaijan, Bilasuvar. He is internally displaced person from occupied Jabrail region who fled to Bilasuvar during the Azerbaijani-Armenian conflict in 1993. He is married and has six children; three sons and three daughters. He started raising vegetables in 1992. Every year he sells his crop in the local bazaar and to the local people. His garden is very big but during these fourteen years the land needed treatment and got drained. And every year it is getting harder to raise a good quality crop. Shakhsuvar is going to improve his land and start raising such vegetables as potatoes, tomatoes, peppers and onions. For this purpose Shakshsuvar has applied for 800 USD with a repayment term of 15 months. He will spend this money to purchase fertilizer and to buy seeds for the vegetable he wants to grow.
