Sophat and her husband try to work hard for a bright future for their children.

Mrs. Sophat Khum has borrowed money from MAXIMA four times already. Now she is asking for a loan in the amount of US$ 100. She will use this loan to purchase silk materials and sewing thread.

Update on Sophat Khum

Entrepreneur: Sophat Khum
Location: Khsach Kandal District, Cambodia

In November, 2007 Mrs. Sophat, a weaver, asked for a loan of $100 to purchase silk material, sewing thread and pay fees for selecting and preparing silk on the looms.

So, she could afford silk and other material in a cheaper price and generate more profit because she bought and sold in cash. She uses her current income to pay for food, battery charge, water fee and other family activities as well as reinvest in the weaving business.

The children, on the other hand, are going to school everyday because Sophat and her husband now can get a better income to support them. The family’s payment is on schedule as in June, 2008
