Carlos Riveros

Carlos Alberto is 43 years old and has been married to his wife, Ramona, for the past 14 years. Together they have 5 children, three of whom are grown and married and two who are still in primary school.

Carlos works as a tailor and is skilled in all areas of the trade. He first learned this trade from his uncle at a very young age. He is especially talented at making overalls, underwear, t-shirts and cowboy boots. After making these items in his home he travels a great distance to sell his wares in the commerical markets in Encarnación, Paraguay. Encarnación is more than 270 km from the town of Itá, where Carlos lives.

Carlos has told us that in the past he traveled to Argentina and Brazil to obtain work experience and perfect his skills. After working in these places for several years he decided to return to Paraguay and work in a factory. Having worked in this position for some time, Carlos decided to leave this job and begin his own business.

With the money he has gained from his store, Carlos, has been able to give his family a good life. He has requested a loan in order to buy the materials he uses to make clothing, including: cloth, needles and zipper.
