Josefina Salome is mother to 6 children. The youngest is in kindergarten and the two oldest are married. Her husband works as a bricklayer, but this profession leaves people without work for long periods of time. This is why Josefina, thinking about making sure that nothing is missing in their home and that their children are able to study (something she always wanted to do but her family wouldn't allow her to do because of lack of money), she started an elote (corn on the husk) stand outside of her own house, and little by little, because of the great taste, she built up a clientele until she had enough money to buy a cart.

With the experience she now has, Josefina is requesting a loan for $375 to be paid over a 6-month period, to buy another cart so her husband can sell in a different part of their neighborhood and take advantage of the high sales of elotes in this season. Buying another cart will let this family expand the little business that with so much effort they have managed to create. In your hands you have the ability to help this poor family get ahead.
