Evas is a widowed 47-year-old woman with 6 children, and she takes care of 2 orphans. She is a very strong, determined woman with a lot of business sense. She has been operating a tailoring business for the past 15 years. With her profits she has been able to build a building where she rents 3 store fronts. She is currently adding a second story to her building and adding on in the back. She will use the second story for a tailoring workroom, where she plans to hire additional seamstresses.

With her loan she plans to buy larger volumes of material for her expanding business. A large portion of her business is making sweaters and uniforms for the schoolchildren. In Uganda, you must have a uniform to attend school. So, she offers good pricing which helps many families afford uniforms.

Journal

Entrepreneur: Evas Kamuaisha
Location: Kampala, Uganda

Ooooops, my sincere apology goes to mostly Colin Haviland and the 39 total lenders for the lack of journaling on the part of this entrepreneur, Evas Kamuaisha. In fact I don’t know how I have been so mean with posting her business journal but most probably I skipped it while posting the July journals because that is the time I got feedback about how she has been doing all this while. Evas was able to start the tailoring school business in which she hired two more staff to help in her duties as she teaches young girls the same trade. And with this, she uses one of the storefronts with several sewing machines for her girls to learn from. However she says the machines she has are just not enough considering the number of girls that would like to join and she hopes to use some of her profits to purchase a few others not forgetting to save money for her children’s school dues. She would like at least some of her girls (daughters) to join the trade in addition to the professions each one of them would like to take due to the lack of jobs in the country today whereby the culprit can always run back to tailoring until the appropriate job is found. She is really a common figure among children and adults because she serves all of them. Thank you so much for the heart of giving.
