Naima

Thank you for your loan. It has been disbursed to Naima Rahmoun by Al Majmoua- Lebanese Association for Dev in Lebanon. We are excited to watch this business grow. For eleven years now Naima has been working with Lebanese MFI Al Majmoua. For many years Naima and her husband owned and operated a small grocery store in the village of Al Ain in the Bekaa Valley. The couple took several loans from Al Majmoua, and though Naima’s husband has since passed away, she has continued to run the shop and has continued her relationship with Al Majmoua. Her last loan is almost finished, with which Naima purchased a large stock of bread, soda, candy, cooking oil and other home necessities to resell. Many of her stock purchases were in preparation for the Eid holiday season, during which she nearly sold out of many goods. Her business is steady as all of Naima’s neighbors know her well and feel comfortable shopping at her store.

Naima’s six children have all moved out of her house, though she still takes care of her eleven year old grandson who attends a boarding school nearby. When Naima spoke to us about her grandson, her eyes lit up, and she showed us a photo she kept tucked away on her shelf. She finds considerable motivation in helping to support her grandson, and though she is now advanced in age, she has no intentions of slowing her busy work schedule; when we asked how long she plans to continue minding her store, she opened a big smile and replied “Forever!”
