Tauavae Ioane is thirty five years old and has a child. She lives with her parents. She sells sugar cane and chips at a local school, as well as taro and bananas at a market. Tauavae only goes to the market three days a week, where she earns US$80 a day. Sometimes she sells chips and sugar cane five days a week. This is her family's only source of income, and Tauavae is grateful for the SPBD loans that have helped not only her business, but also her children’s schooling. She will use the current loan of US$700 to purchase chemicals, fertilizers, weed killers, plastic wrappings, and tools for her business.

Tauavae Ioane is 39 years old and has 4 children. She is a member of Mulifanua sologa center which is located in Western UPOLU. She has Foodstall business, which she has been engaged in for 4 years. The loan officer who is in charge of her center says Tauavae is a very good member. She repays her loan on time, always attends her weekly meetings, and is enthusiastic about expanding her business.

She has used her previous loan to purchase flour,meat,sc of sugar,timber,nails,metal roof for her business. She says her business is doing well. On good days she makes 600 Tala a day (1Tala=0.4USD) and on bad days she makes 500 Tala a day. She also says that the Kiva loans and SPBD loans are not only helping her business grow, but also helping her pay her children’s school fees, feed her family better, and improve her housing.

When asked if she has any words to the Kiva lenders, she said “I'm one of a good member of this centre, I also repays my loan on time, and always attend the weekly meetings. Thanks to KIVA and SPBD for helping me and my family."
