Mrs. Vuth Ang, age 39, works as a farmer, selling her vegetables in her community for about $3 per day. Her husband works grinding rice crops for the villagers, earning about $3 per day as well. They have five children. Two children are employed in a garment factory making about $70 per month each, and three children are students. In order to purchase a hand-tractor to more efficiently till the soil in her field, she would like to borrow $1,100. This will allow her to increase her crop output and thus increase her income to provide an education for her children. Her husband is pictured in front of the tractor she would like to purchase for her business.

Journal Update.

Entrepreneur: Vuth Ang
Location: Prey Veng Province, Cambodia

Vuth Ang, age 40, works as farmer, selling her vegetables in her community and her husband works grinding rice crops for the villagers. Mrs. Ang has requested a loan to purchase hand-tractor to efficiently till the soil in her field.

Mrs. Ang first heard about Credit’s low interest from a loan officer who visited her commune. She decided to ask for a loan because the interest rate of 2.5% per month is not very high and CREDIT provides a long loan term that she can afford. Ang took out a loan of $1100 to purchase hand-tractor, but she changed her mind when she received the money. Instead, she decided that it would be more profitable for her to replace her husband grinding mill. She told a loan officer that the old machine is often fixed and use a lot of gas when it runs. She has been pleased with the results of her investment. So far, the grinding mill can earn up to $5 each day. In the future, this couple plan to purchase a truck to transfer wood, rice and etc… There are no problems paying back a loan to Credit MFI.

Again, she states that the loan is very useful as it is provide a chance to all poor entrepreneurs to start and sustain their businesses. Finally, she would like to say thanks to all lenders for interest helping Cambodian entrepreneurs like her family.
