Talalei Samuelu, 41 years old, of Vailoa-uta makes pudding for a living. Married with children, Talalelei and her husband have joined forces to earn their living. Since they were introduced to SPBD, they make and sell puddings for employment. These are being sold at the Fugalei Market where they have their own retail shop.

Talalei produces a maximum of 15-20 puddings a day and these are delivered to the market for sale. Talalelei Samuelu is 49 years old and has 5 children. She is a member of Vailoa Uta center which is located in Town Area Upolu island. She has Bakery business, which she has been engaged in for 4 years. The loan officer who is in charge of her center says Talalelei is a very good member. She repays her loan on time, always attends her weekly meetings, and is enthusiastic about expanding her business.

She has used her previous loan to purchase flour, sugar, plastic bags, and baking soda for her business. She says her business is doing well. On good days she makes $250 Tala a day (1Tala=0.4USD) and on bad days she makes $90 Tala a day. She also says that the Kiva loans and SPBD loans are not only helping her business grows, but also helping her pay her children’s school fees, feed her family better, and improve her housing.

When asked if she has any words to the Kiva lenders, she said “A former client of SPBD, Talalelei Samuelu left the programme after her first loan as she is doing well and is able to sustain her own business from the profits she is making. She now rest for while but she can reaply if she need Financial support from SPBD”
