Ms. Ysabel is a native of Mache district in the province of Otuzco, department of La Libertad. She is 41 years old and has 4 children, but only one (age 8) is still dependent upon her. She attended school through the third year of high school.

At age 14, she started working, selling eggs and local dishes called choclos and cachangas on the buses that came and went from Mache. Later she got married, and after 15 years together her husband abandoned her with 3 children. She was left completely alone, as not even her relatives supported her. She traveled to the city of Trujillo in search of work, but she didn't get any, and she had to sell sweets on the mini-buses and collect trash in the streets to feed herself.

She decided to return to Mache and raise some livestock; there she was invited to participate in the Communal Bank "Women of Mache". With her first loan of approximately $96, she bought cheeses to bring to Trujillo to sell, and some guinea pigs to fatten and later sell. With her subsequent loans, and with the support of her present partner, she opened a small store.

At present, she has the store, but she also works making and selling cheeses, buying and selling grains wholesale, and she also has cattle. With the loan recently granted by Manuela Ramos for approximately $731, she will buy two bulls to sell later at a better price.
