Maria is 44 years old, married to Mr. Cirilo Ortega, and they have 2 children. They own a small "chipas" factory at their home. Mrs. Maria, with the help of one of her sisters, is in charge of the production. The "chipa" is a typical Paraguayan food; it is similar to bread and consists of dough, cheese, milk, vegetable oil, and other ingredients.

Her husband Cirilo is in charge of the sales. He travels every day to the city of Clorinda, Argentina (the neighboring country) to sell his tasty products. He has a well-known stand in this city, where he has been working for about 25 years now.

They are requesting a loan to enlarge the roof of their barn which will give them more space to produce the chipas. Thanks to this business, they have been able to buy their own home as well as pay for the studies of their two children, who at this moment are enrolled at the university.
