Country:Pakistan
Avg Annual Income:$3,004.00

My husband and I have been in the tailoring business for a long time now. While I make clothes for the women and children in my neighborhood, my husband takes orders from bigger houses and makes men’s clothes. Together we make a net profit of $250 per month. Last year we took out a loan of $200 to buy new sewing machines.

We are now in need of a loan to put towards the rent for a small shop on the main road so that we can process more orders. We have successfully put our older three children through school and we wish the same for the youngest who is currently in primary school.

Dear Lenders,

I apologize for the delay in updating you on the progress of my family business. With the loan that you provided me, I have opened a tailor shop in the market with my husband. I used the loan to pay rent on a small shop. We have been able to reach more customers now that we are working in a busy market rather than in our home. I am happy that our family income has increased by 3,000-4,000 PKRs (approximately US $40-55) on a monthly basis.

This is my second loan with Asasah (microfinance institution in Pakistan). The increased income from our business has allowed us to pay for household items and support our children. Of my four children, two of my three sons are married. My youngest, my 15-year-old daughter, is still in school. It is my dream that she will continue her education and go to college.

I am grateful to each of you for your loan. I hope that you will continue to support my fellow Asasah associates on Kiva.

Thank you!

Kaneez Fatima
