The first loan Mahammadali applied for was US$ 600. With that amount, he purchased his first milk cow and started to sell milk and yoghurt to the local people. These products are in very high demand in the small towns and villages of Azerbaijan. Later on, with the money he earned from his milk and yoghurt sales, he purchased a calf.
Mahammadali has a big family, a wife and 4 grown-up children, two daughters and two sons. The youngest son helps him to tend the animals, but to cover all the needs of their big family they have to expand their micro-business, so they have applied for this $1,200 loan to purchase one more cow and a calf.
