Mrs. Vann Sina is 40 years old and lives in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. She has four children. One of her children is employed at a garment factory, another one is a student, and the rest are still too young to attend school.

To supplement her family’s income, Ms. Vann Sina and her husband (pictured here) run a small cart selling Khmer noodle to the people in front of a garment factory. This earns them on average around $3/day in revenue.

Recently, this couple needs a motorcycle so that they can pull their food cart in order to make their business more efficient and effective. Thus, they are asking for $1,000 in order to make this investment. They are much thankful for your trust and support!

journal update

Entrepreneur: Vann Sina
Location: Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Vann Sina has been selling Khmer noodles in Phnom Penh for years and even before that when she still lived in her home province of Kandal. Her household includes her husband, her four children, and her husband’s elderly mother as well. She first found out about CREDIT through a CREDIT staff member. She had never taken out loans before but since investigating CREDIT’s low interest rates has taken out two. Her most recent loan was applied towards buying fruit and plates to use at her Khmer noodle shop. Noodle shops like hers are an integral part of casual Khmer culture. They are run like small street side restaurants serving as gathering places for friends before and after work. She reports she now earns around 20 US$ per day with total sales. This additional income will mostly be put towards her children’s education. She says all in all business has been good and only occasionally slow. There have been a few months where she has been late to repay her loan but is still making progress. She reports that once this loan is finished she will consider another loan to further expand her shop.
