Benkola Group

The women of group Benkola are mostly widows who average 43 years of age and five children. They live in traditional families in Keleya ( within the Bougouni prefecture) 100 kilometers of Bamako( the capital of Mali). They know each other through their proximity and professional ties and do commerce of various items. They are on their first group loan with Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution. They intend to buy 10 crates of carbonated soft drinks,70 kilograms of fresh vegetables, 100 kilograms of 'atieke' and various items with this loan. They get their supplies at the Keleya market where they display for sale ( by the national highway which links Bamako to Abidjan) or by door-to-door in the village neighborhoods. They expect to make an average monthly profit of 19 000FCFA which will be used to repay the loans on time and contribute to the family expenses.

Les femmes du groupe Benkola sont en majorité des femmes veuves ayant en moyenne quarante trois, cinq enfants et vivant dans des familles traditionnelles à Kéléya (relevant de la préfecture de Bougouni) à 100 kilomètres de Bamako (la capitale du Mali).
Elles se sont connues par des liens de voisinage et professionnels et font le commerce d’articles divers.
Elles sont à leur premier prêt de groupe avec l’institution de microfinance Soro Yiriwaso.
Elles comptent avoir avec ce prêt, 10 casiers de boissons gazeuses, 70 kilogrammes de légumes frais, 100 kilogrammes d’atiékè et divers articles. Elles s’approvisionnent sur le marché de Kéléya où elles vendent sur des étales (au bord de la route nationale qui relie Bamako à Abidjan) ou en ambulant dans les quartiers du village.
Elles envisagent réaliser un bénéfice moyen mensuel de 19.000 FCFA qui servira à payer l’échéance du prêt et contribuer aux dépenses de la famille.
