Juliana Dzikunu

Juliana Dzikunu sells smoked fish at Elmina near Bantama. Juliana has received education to the senior high level. She is married and has four children. Her husband is a fisherman. Juliana has been selling smoked fish since 2001. She assists her husband in the payment of school fees and utility bills. Her loan will be used to buy more fish to process (smoke) for sale. She hopes to use the new profits from her business to save towards building a house.

To smoke her fish, she goes to the seashore to buy fresh fish from the fishermen. She brings the fish home, cleans or dresses them and drains the water that comes about as a result of washing the fish. She prepares her traditionally made oven with firewood to smoke her fish for resale.
