Mrs. Maria de Jesus Canda is a 47-year-old single mother of 6 older children who work and help her with her small business, in which she sells coffee, bread, and food. She has done this for 26 years and has managed to build up a clientele. She began with loans and her objective has been to improve her house in order to have a decent place to live. She lives in a neighborhood in the outlying area of the city, where there is contaminated water, which is troubling since each family has to pay expenses to make their own drain and be able to be in hygenic conditions. Her plans are to expand her business and sell more. With this credit she will purchase zinc in order to change out a bad sheet on her roof. She does not want to suffer through another winter this way, since she has to move her things so they don't get ruined. Also, she will buy ceramics to put in the living room and improve the conditions, all thanks to the financing of Afodenic, which makes possible the dreams of every Nicaraguan family.
