Problems and money shortages never defeated Barno, who has always looked for a way to get past obstacles and continue to improve her situation. She is an extremely hard-working and energetic woman. She is 32 years old, married, and the loving mother of three children.

For more than 6 years, Barno has operated a store where she sells women’s clothing. As a rule she travels to the neighboring town to get new garments at very cheap prices. Her store is well known, and people love to visit because it's clean, tidy, and run by someone who is very kind and thoughtful.

Barno hopes that her store will keep growing so that she can maintain a comfortable life for her family, especially for her children. To make that possible, she has applied for a new loan that she will use to buy more clothing to sell. She promises to repay the loan with accuracy as she has done with previous loans.

Tajikistan is known for its rich history, which includes a key post along the Silk Road and the end of Alexander the Great's rule. It has also produced great thinkers, philosophers, scientists and poets, including Rudaki, Avicenna, Ferdowsi, Omar Khayyam, Jomi, and Rumi. While the people of Tajikistan are working to improve its agricultural production and manufacturing sector, nearly two-thirds of the population still live in abject poverty.
