Luchando Contra La Pobreza Groups 1 And 2

Severina is the group coordinator for Banco de Esperanza (Bank of Hope) Luchando Contra La Pobreza (Fighting Against Poverty). Her story is representative of the others in her group and more generally of Esperanza's Haitian and Dominican clients. Severina lives in a rural and mountainous area near Puerto Plata. Her community has unreliable access to running water (not potable) and electricity. She is a single mother and lives with her four children.

Severina sells food, fruit and gasoline to others in her community. She has four years of experience with her business and this will be her fifth loan with Esperanza. She plans to use this loan to purchase meat (ham and chicken) and fuel to sell in her market. She wants to continue to grow her business more and more each day so that she can provide for her family. Since becoming an Esperanza client, she has learned how to make good investments with her money and to think about the future. She thanks you for your support!



About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
