Herminia Cequena

Herminia Cequena is a 44 year-old mother of four children. She is married to Rafael Cequena who is 51 years-old. Rafael Jr., 23, Lyn, 22, Liza, 20, and Jeffrey, 15, are their children. Their main source of income is from their fishing business and because her husband is a fisherman he manages it well. This business received intense damage when Typhoon Ondoy entered their area of the Philippines. However, Herminia and her husband still believe that they can rebuild their business. Since this business is their main source of income aside from their bamboo set making business they really need to start it again and improve it.

They will start rebuilding their business using the loan they hope to receive from Kiva field partner Ahon sa Hirap Inc. (ASHI). She will use this to buy the essentials such as fishnets, bamboo, accessories for the fishnets and more. Herminia is praying to God that what happened to their business will never happen again and no storm will again visit the Philippines.

One dream of Herminia is that her business will become successful so that their life will improve and they will be able to renovate their house in order for them to live a comfortable life.
