This is Evelyn Pilar, 33 years old, from Malibay, Pasay City. Her husband Ruel, 34, is a pedicab driver. One of their two children is now in grade school.

Evelyn sets up a table in an alley near their house and sells rice cakes and other snacks and goodies. She makes good sales every day, primarily because of her business location, although she just started with this business last year. Their pedicab (rickshaw) provides additional income for the family. Evelyn earns more than P13,000 a month.

Last year, she joined the Center for Community Transformation (CCT) Credit Cooperative and has since been enjoying the many benefits it provides for its members. Evelyn applied recently for a loan from CCT in the amount of P13,000 for the expansion of her business.

Evelyn works really hard because she wants her children to finish studying. She hopes also to formalize her stall and make it into a full-blown restaurant someday. She also dreams of having a new house and lot.
