Arlyn Borjal

This is Arlyn Borjal, a young businesswoman who lives among the poor communities in Parola, Tondo, Manila. She is 33 years old and her husband, Emilio, 35, works for a construction firm. They have six children: the eldest is in high school, four are in grade school, and the youngest stays at home.

Arlene started cooking and selling food items and other goodies to her neighbors last year. She sells rice cakes, finger foods, snacks, burgers and fruit shakes and earns close to P10,000 a month. Her earnings answer for their daily basic needs.

Arlene is now in need of a loan of P8,000 to buy food ingredients. She is also set to buy a small grill for cooking burgers. She dreams of having her own permanent place of business, more like a restaurant.
