Kwaku, a 43-year-old trader, is married with five children. All his children are in school, from primary to junior high school. He is a very resourceful man who works hard to support his family. He makes a living farming and selling used clothing. Secondhand clothing sales makes up a very big market share in Ghana, as brand new clothes are too expensive for the poor. Kwaku has been in this business for the past five years. He travels to a nearby city called Kumasi to purchase his stock of goods. He wants to use the loan to buy more bales of used clothing to increase his inventory. He believes this loan would help him save for the future and expand his business.
