Elizabeth Herrera Villalobos is 49 years old and lives in the community of Canalete Upala, which is located in the Alajuela province. This region is a semi-mountainous area where the main business activities are agriculture and livestock breeding. It is a community that has great opportunity for development and establishment of micro-enterprises in both agribusiness and commercial trade.

For 30 years, Doña Elizabeth has been engaged in sewing. A few years after she learned how to sew, she started her own dressmaking business. She produces various types of clothing that she sells to businesses in the community and directly out of her home. Thanks to her micro-business, the living conditions for her family have improved considerably.

At the moment, Doña Elizabeth is requesting a loan of 680,000 colones to purchase materials such as fabric, thread, pins, buttons, etc. With this investment, she hopes to increase her production and improve the quality of her finished items. She says the loan will help her provide more and better options to her existing and prospective customers.

Doña Elizabeth is a member of the Community Credit Enterprise of Canalete, one of 100 partner organizations that make up EDESA in Costa Rica. This will be her first loan and she hopes to continue growing personally and financially. She is an active participant of her local credit organization.
