Mrs. Fandaw Hanne sells breakfast meals and fish. She works in Camberene, a seaside suburb of Dakar. The typical Senegalese breakfast consists of bread with chocolate, tuna or Niebe (prepared beans) and a Touba coffee with milk. Mrs. Hanne has over 20 years experience in this business, but this is her first loan. She is married with five children.

Mrs. Hanne is a beneficiary of the agreement between U-IMCEC and the Child and Family Development Program (PDEF in French) Seydina Issa Laye. The PDEF seeks to reduce poverty within the community and especially aims to protect children born into poor families. Thanks to this cooperation, parents of these children can receive loans with more flexible terms than ordinary loans. Since the agreement’s inception in December 2008, 120 parents have received funding ranging from 50,000 to 150,000 francs.
