Danaya Group

Danaya is a group of five women (three are married and two are single) with an average age of 34 years and 3 children and living in private homes in Ouayerma, a district in the village of Sikasso, an economic hub in Mali.

In order to increase their sales, they have decided to work with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso (Kiva Field Partner), this being the group's sixth loan. All of their past loans have been properly repaid.

They each carry out different businesses, such as firewood sales, sales of fruits and vegetables, and sales of fabrics.

With this new loan they plan on purchasing 20 rolls of printed fabrics, 10 wheelbarrows of firewood, 40 baskets of frutis and 2 measures of taffeta fabric.

They purchase their products from wholesalers in the large market in the village of Sikasso. The merchandise is later resold in the markets in Medine, and in various districts, to a clientele made up of both men and women, most of whom pay in cash.

Their monthlyh forecasted earnings are of 15000FCFA, part of which will be put towards the education and health care of their children, and another part will be used to repay the loan.

The women of the Danaya group are ambitious and plan on becoming wholesalers and plan on making trips from Mali to other neighboring countries.

Danaya est un regroupement de cinq femmes (trois mariées et deux célibataires) ayant une moyenne d’âge de 34 ans, 3 enfants et vivant dans des foyers monogames à Ouayerma, un des quartiers de la ville de Sikasso 3ème région administrative de la république du Mali.
Dans le but de d’augmenter leur chiffre d’affaire, elles ont décidé de collaborer avec l’institution de microfinance Soro Yiriwaso et sont à leur sixième prêt de groupe. Tous les prêts passés se sont bien dénoués.
Elles mènent diverses activités qui sont entre autres la vente de bois de chauffe, de fruits et légumes, de bazins et de pagnes wax.
Avec ce nouveau prêt, elles comptent acheter, 20 colis de pagnes wax, 10 chargements de charrettes en bois de chauffe, 40 paniers de fruits et 2 pièces de bazins.
Elles s’approvisionnent au grand marché de Sikasso ville auprès des grossistes. Les marchandises sont revendues au marché de Médine, dans les différents quartiers ou de façon ambulante, à une clientèle composée d’hommes et de femmes, et la plupart au comptant.
Elles envisagent réaliser chacune un bénéfice mensuel moyen de 15 000FCFA dont une partie sera utilisée dans l’éducation et la santé des enfants et l’autre partie sera utilisé pour rembourser le prêt.
Les femmes du groupe Danaya ambitionnent devenir des grossistes et entreprendre des voyages entre le Mali et les pays frontaliers.
