Asunta Quispe, 38, has been married to Sergio Alba Quiroz for 15 years. They have two sons and a daughter who go to the local school, which is two blocks from their home. They live in an area that is known for its dairy farming and agriculture. She lives in her own house.

Asunta has been a dairy farmer for a long time. She has done this since she was a little girl. First, she helped her mother take care of the livestock. Little by little she was learning. That’s how she was able to buy her own dairy cows. She takes all of her milk production to a local milk company that makes all kinds of dairy products.

She needs a loan to finish building her house. That way she can give her family a better quality of life. The house will be made of better construction material.

Update from Bolivia on your loan!

Entrepreneur: Asunta Quispe
Location: Cochabamba, Bolivia

Asunta Quispe, 38, has been married to Sergio Alba Quiroz for 15 years. They have two sons and a daughter who go to the local school, which is two blocks from their home. They live in an area that is known for its dairy farming and agriculture. She lives in her own house.

Last Friday, I had the chance to stop by Asunta’s family farm to check in with her on how her loan cycle has been going. With the $1,200 loan from CIDRE, Asunta purchased materials for constructing the roof of her home, which is in the process of being expanded and remodeled.

Asunta reports that, although the loan was taken out very recently, she believes she should have no trouble making all the loan repayments in a timely fashion. She likes how CIDRE uses declining interest rates, so each payment she will owe less and less, which makes it easier. In the future, Asunta hopes to construct a second story for her family’s home.

Check out the photo below of Asunta, taken during my visit last Friday.

CIDRE’s mission is to contribute to the sustainable development of small-level dairy/livestock producers and of rural and semi-urban micro and small businesses, through the provision of quality financial services. Their principle goal is to be a leading entity in the provision of financial services, characterized by providing efficient service with sound ethics, creativity, and social engagement with the community. CIDRE is a new Kiva partner as of June 2009; to support more of CIDRE’s Kiva clients, follow this link!: http://bit.ly/1A5JLc
