Fe Y Amor 2 Y 3 Group

Enelcida is the coordinator of her group Fe y Amor (Faith and Love). Her story is representative of the members of her group and of Esperanza's Haitian and Dominican (many of whom recently emigrated from Haiti to the DR) clients more generally. Her group is based around the city of La Romana, an area where the economy centers around the sugar cane industry and in which there is limited access to running water (none of which is potable) and electricity. Here, she makes her home as a single mother with her six children.

Enelcida has proven herself to be a reliable associate of Esperanza and this will be her sixth loan with us after having paid back her first five without problems. She is excited to take this loan to continue developing her fried food stand. With this loan she will buy salami, flour and cooking oil for her business. She hopes to use the profits to continue constructing her home. Her dream is to have a well constructed home for her children so that they can be safe and continue their studies. About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee. Under this arrangement, each member of the group supports one another and is responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. Learn more
