Marie is the proud owner of MarieDenee.com, an online boutique selling plus-sized women’s clothing to a clientele that Marie describes as “curvy, confident, and chic”.
Marie and her sister were raised by a single mom in the military. The first in her family to go to college, Marie even went on to pursue a Master’s in business administration. “Right when I finished college, a trend started in my family - my uncle, my mom and my aunties all went back to school.”
After finding her passion for the world of fashion, Marie worked as a manager for a large department store. Marie loved her job, but she was laid off in 2008. Strengthened by the sense of independence and adventure she gained while being raised in the military, Marie turned to self-employment to make ends meet. She launched MarieDenee.com in September, 2009 and runs the whole operation out of her apartment. “When I was first laid off, I didn’t know how I was going to make my rent. Life gave me lemons, and I decided to make lemonade!”
