After many years as a stay-at-home mom, Nancy realized that she wanted her own career once her children were grown. Initially she wanted to go into traditional medicine and become a doctor, but she ultimately found alternative medicine more appealing.
Nancy began her holistic medicine and acupuncture business five years ago. Just after starting her business she and her husband divorced and went through bankruptcy. This made it pretty much impossible for her to receive a loan from a traditional bank. However, she found a new sense of confidence after realizing that she has a viable business and would in fact be eligible for a micro-loan from Opportunity Fund.
Nancy needs $8,000 to buy pre-packed supplements and to buy an alkaline water system. In the future, she hopes to expand her business to include workshops for other midlife women who are trying to find a new career in life or possibly start their own businesses. She feels that no one should “let life’s circumstances prevent them from doing what they want”.
