The six members of the 'Confiance' group are married women with an average age of 40 and on average, 4 children. They mostly live in monogamous families in Sanoubougou I, one of the districts of the town of Sikasso, third administrative region of the Republic of Mali.

They work with the micro-finance institution Soro Yiriwaso so as to satisfy the needs of their clientele; they are on their first loan and are hoping to maintain this relationship.

They sell firewood, cooking oil, prepaid telephone cards, fabrics, and shoes. With this first loan they hope to buy 1 truckload of firewood, 4 jerrycans of 20 liters of cooking oil, 10 phone cards at 2000 F CFA, 30 cards at 1000 F CFA, 5 bolts of cloth for men, and 3 dozen shoes. They do their buying in the marketplace of Sikasso and the surrounding villages and make their sales in the various markets such as the one at Sanoubougou, in the neighborhoods of the town of Sikasso, and out of their homes, for cash, to a clientele composed of men and women, and often for credit.

They each expect to make an average monthly profit of 22,500 F CFA of which part will be saved or used for family expenses with the remainder invested back into their businesses. They are looking forward to receiving higher amounts in future so that they can satisfy their clientele appropriately and be able to open up a sales point.
