Saahkem Dorothy Muyang

Born in 1954, Dorothy is married with seven children; she lives in Musang, within the urban town of Bamenda, Cameroon. With this loan, Dorothy plans to invest in Roasting of fish and frying of gateaux. She plans to buy fresh fish, charcoal and spices for the roasting of fish. She will also buy flour, yeast, firewood, Sugar, groundnut oil, frying pan and spoon which will enable her to fry her gateaux.
This is Dorothy seven loan; she has been a member of GHAPE since 1999.She has a great deal of experience in her business; added to that, she will be selling in schools during lunch break. Over the years, her customers have been increasing on regular basis. She also has an excellent site for her business which is located near the road and is accessible to many people.

She plans to use the profit from her business to build a house and pay her children school fees. She will also reinvest part in the business. The rest will be used to clothe her children, provide medical assistance to her family, and feed her family.

The Grounded and Holistic Approach to People's Empowerment (GHAPE) is a non-profit NGO based in Bamenda, Cameroon. GHAPE works towards the empowerment of the poor and poverty alleviation through a highly multi-faceted approach. Every client is trained in business management, basic health, life skills, financial management, profits and losses, and family values. Clients are also required to contribute a small amount into a personal savings account; most clients save much more than the minimum requirement. GHAPE instils a sense of family and community within its clients and staff and has developed a strong bond of trust between the organization and its clients.
