Doracy

When Doracy moved to the U.S., she had to close the lingerie store she had already set up in her home country, Brazil. Once she moved, she tried selling door-to-door the goods she had imported, but she found it to be very challenging - much more difficult than it was when she had her own store. Doracy saved every single penny in order to finally open her current storefront space here in the U.S. in 2006.

Not knowing English, or being able to access capital from a bank, Doracy overcame many obstacles to build her dream here in the U.S. Fortunately, she has been able to learn some English in order to communicate with her clients and also plans to move to a bigger and better location later this year.

This is Doracy’s third loan with ACCION USA, and she says that every one of her experiences has helped expand her business by allowing her to purchase more inventory, which she can find at better prices with cash rather than credit. She says that ACCION USA has made it possible for her to dream big, and she hopes to open a second store in a mall and be successful enough to buy her own house eventually.
