The Manguito Group was formed in Santiago Pinotepa Nacional Oaxaca. It is comprised of 14 members. They have been working for one year (three cycles) with loans that Fundacion Realidad offers. All of the members make and sell products like groceries, tamales, soft drink, ice cream, tortilla chips, clothes, perfume, shoes by catalog, notions, lingerie, handmade corn tortillas, tacos, bulk corn, and fresh fish. Due to the geographic region they are located in, these types of products are in good demand in the area. As a consequence, their income is very good and acceptable, according to Alicia Delgado Torres. She is a 71 year old member who joined with her daughter, Rosario. Currently she is not in the group because she moved. They were the ones that founded the group by inviting neighbors to join.

Alicia comments that the loan received from the institution has really helped all of the members. It gives them a means to work and contribute income to their families. It really helps now that the country’s economy is in crisis, and their husbands incomes do not cover the expenses of the children going to school.

They will use the loan they are asking for to make and buy products to sell like corn, wood, plastic bags, fresh meat, dried chilies to prepare mole, groceries, soft drinks, shipping charges for those who buy articles by catalog, rent for boats, and gasoline for those who sell fresh fish.

They hope that the Realidad Foundation will continue to offer financial services. They are dependent upon them to keep working and to have a business in the future that generates income and a better quality of life.
