This bank is composed of one male member and thirteen female members that want to be successful in their businesses and achieve a better quality of life for their families. They live in different parts of Cuenca.

Mrs. Marcela Elizabeth Neira Tene is a member of the Nuevos Senderos Village Bank and she lives in the Mercado 12 de Abril section of Cuenca. She is 25 years old and is happily married with two children, 4 and 2 years of age. Her relationship with her husband is very solid and is the foundation of their family. He has his own metal-working workshop. They still do not own their own home and have to pay rent. Marcela is a clinical psychologist and has been in practice for two years. She set up her office in their home to save on rent and to be able to fix up the space.

Marcela gets along very well with the other members, creating a friendly environment. She tells us that this is her third loan cycle with the Village Bank and she says that the earlier loans from the bank have enabled her to improve her office space. WIth the loan from FUNDACION ESPOIR, she will invest in the purchase of instruments necessary for her patients' therapy to be able to serve them better. Marcela's dream is to buy a piece of land and build her own office.

Mrs. María Beatriz Sichique Zhungo is another member of the Nuevos Senderos Village Bank and she lives in the El Vergel section of Cuenca. She is 38 years old and is married with three children, 18, 8 and 6 years of age. Her oldest son works in a metal-working workshop and at night studies at the UNITA University. Her two younger children go to school in the city. Her husband is a mechanic and is very helpful around the house. They do not own their own home and they live in their in-laws' house.

María has a restaurant located by the traffic circle at the ETAPA warehouses. She has been working there for two years and her work schedule is from 8:00 am to 4pm. She tells us that during summer break, business fell off a bit and she hopes things improve once classes begin.

This is her first loan with FUNDACIÓN ESPOIR and she wanted to become a member because of the easy access to credit and the opportunity that it would give her to invest in her business. With the loan, she will buy cooking supplies for her business and pay her son's university tuition. Her dream is to increase the size of her restaurant and own the property to be able to serve her customers better and to be more competitive.

Mrs.María Virginia Orosco Mayancela is another active member of the Nuevos Senderos Village Bank and she lives in the Control Sur section of Cuenca. She is 45 years old and is married with four daughters, 27, 24, 23 and 11 years old. Her older daughters are married except for the eldest and the youngest who still live with her. She tells us that she has not been able to get a spot in school for her youngest daughter who she would like to have continue her studies. María's husband is an employee at a private company and they have a good relationship, sharing financial and household responsibilities. They do not own their own home and are renting.

María has a fast food business, selling hotdogs, hamburgers, sodas, etc. She has had this business for twenty years and she works from 4pm to 9pm every day. She tells us that her business is doing well since every day she tries to offer better service to her customers.

María has a good relationship with the other members of the bank. This is her third loan with FUNDACION ESPOIR and she feels very thankful for the earlier loans as they have allowed her to get economically stable. With the new loan from the foundation, she will invest in the expansion of her business and will purchase sodas, juices and disposable goods. Her goal is to own her own home.
