Mujeres Y Hombres 7 Group

Juana is the group coordinator of the group Mujeres y Hombres 7 (Men and Women). Her story is representative of both the members of her group and Esperanza's Haitian (many of whom recently emigrated to the DR from Haiti) and Dominican clients. Her group is based in the area around Hato Mayor, an agricultural town in the center of the DR based around the sugarcane harvest where running water (none of which is potable) and electricity are unreliable at best. Here she makes her home with her child as a single mother.

Juana originally came to Esperanza because she wanted the opportunity to be a businesswoman and after having successfully repaid her first loan she is ready for her second. She plans to use this loan to invest in more colthing and shoes which she plans to buy in bulk at a better price. She plans to use the additional profits from her improve her life by purchasing a house, clothing and shoes for her child, books for school and school supplies for her child. Her long term dream is to own her own home. She thanks you all for your support.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
