The members of Benkadi Group of Tiessiri Association are married women who, on average, are 39 years old and have six children. They live with their husbands and children in large traditional families in the village of Konobougou in the sub-prefecture of Baroueli, region of Ségou in the Republic of Mali. They are neighbors or family members to each other and run small convenience stores with diversified articles. These women have joined the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso in order to ensure the long-term success of their businesses. This is their seventh group loan and they have repaid all their previous loans on schedule.

They will use their loan to buy 150 sacks of charcoal and a large quantity of fruits and vegetables. They will buy these fruits, vegetables and charcoal in the surrounding villages and sell them in Konobougou to a clientele made up of women and men.

They expect to make an average profit of 60,000 CFA francs (US$133) each per month. They will reinvest part of their profit in their businesses and spent part of it to provide for their families.
