Mrs. Yart Phin Village Bank Group

This village bank group loan is for 23 people living in Peam Prachum village in Kandal province. Mrs. Yart Phin is the group leader and has selected the other members who will all use their portion of the loan for different purposes. Mrs. Yart Phin herself is a pig breeder and needs to purchase pig feed for her growing pigs. Her husband, Mr. Kang Rith, is a farmer who owns a plot of land where he cultivates both rice and vegetables. Mrs. Yart Phin is a 37-year-old mother of five children, three of whom are attending the local school. The other two are still too young to work or study.

Most group members will have monthly payment loans. Nine members will have end-of-term (EoT) loans which means they are not required to pay any principal on the loan until the very end of the loan term. End-of-term loans are AMK’s main product because it is the most beneficial to Cambodia’s poor. It allows them to repay portions of the principal whenever they are able. Most clients start making payments many months before the end of the loan term. Almost all of AMK’s clients make their payments on time. AMK has a delinquency rate of only 0.09% and AMK has a default rate of 0% on Kiva.




About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
