God's Mercy Group

God's Mercy is a group of five borrowers led by Marie Samukai. She is 40 years old and married with four children aged 8-23 years old. Their educational levels are 8th grade through high school graduate. Marie also cares for two siblings. Marie graduated from high school but couldn't continue due to poverty. She lives in WestPoint close to down town Monrovia, Liberia. WestPoint is known for its population and its level when it comes to crime rate and poverty.

Marie's business is her provision shop. She buys goods like matches, candles, insecticides, bread, eggs, butter etc. wholesale and sells them at retail to the residents of WestPoint. Marie started this business with the sales of tomatoes, canned food and other simple goods on a table, but now she has grown to owning a shop. She has been running this business for more than 20 years. Marie feels what brought her this far is giving her customers good service and talking to them in a good manner so when they leave her they will always want to come and buy from her.
She needs this loan to purchase goods, have a good foundation and continue. Marie hopes to promote her business to a higher level and own a store. And she dreams of a big house for her and her family in order to change their lives completely.



About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
