Jehovah Shammah Group

Paul is 30years old he is single and father with a child who is currently in school. He is a wholesaler and trades in flour, sugar, margarine, rice etc in bags. He has his shop in the market center where he lives. He takes delivery of stock from Kumasi. He is been in business for the last three years now. He requests the loan to add to his capital so that he can buy more stock to upgrade his business. With the loan he believes it will improve his stock level to attract more customers to his shop.

He is the leader of a trust bank group called ‘Jehovah Shammah’. He is the one sitting in the middle in the group photograph. Most of the members of this group are petty traders, grocery sellers, food vendors etc. In this group, members guarantee for one another as social collateral to access the loan and peer pressure to repay the loan.
