Yoni Group

Here are Namina Bangura and Wara Kanu. They named their group Yoni group, named after their home village of Yoni Boma, in the Tonkolili district, northern Sierra Leone. These entrepreneurs are seeking a loan of Le 1,300,000 to enable them increase the size and quality of their businesses.

The leader of this group is Namina Bangura on the left. Namina is now age forty, married to a police officer and the two of them have five children, between the ages of eight and twenty-two. Manina sells market food – rice, palm-oil (the favorite cooking oil), “margi” (used to give sauce a sweet taste), salt, pepper etc. She has been in this business for fifteen years now. With this loan, she will be able to expand her business, makes more sales and better profit, and consequently improving on her living standard.
