Dios Es Amor 4 Group

Juana is the group coordinator of the group Dios es Amor (God is Love). Her story is representative of the living conditions and businesses of her colleagues. The group is based in Los Alcarrizos, an industrial town north of Santo Domingo where running water (none of which is potable) and electricity are unreliable at best. Juana makes her home here in a simple structure made of concrete blocks with a tin roof with her husband and child.

"Would you like to purchase some clothing? While you look, why not have some ice cream to cool you down?" To paraphrase a bit, this would be the sales pitch that one might expect to hear from Juana. She recognized demand for these items in her local community and successfully established her business. After having successfully repaid her first loan, Juana is taking another loan to purchase more clothing, hair accessories, and ice cream to sell to her clients. She plans to use the additional profits to finish her home and also to purchase school supplies for her children. In the long term she dreams of sending her child to the university. She thanks you all for your support.
