Akua

Akua is a 48-year-old local restaurant operator. She is divorced and has five kids and the one who is her last born is schooling.

Akua prepares and sells local foods like fufu, banku, and other local dishes. Fufu is prepared from pounded cassava and plantain, taken with all kinds of soup. Banku is prepared from milled maize grains and it is taken with hot pepper or soup. With her tasty meals she has attracted lots of customers in the area where she serves and therefore it has become necessary to employ additional hands to assist her in a food delivering service.

Akua says prices of raw materials have gone up significantly and she needs the support of a loan to enable her meet her production expenditures. With the loan, she wants to purchase more raw materials like bags of maize, baskets of cassava, plantain, meat, fish, vegetables and firewood to prepare her meals. She dreams of building a house for her children.
