The members of the Benkadi group are all married women who are on average 38 years old with an average of 2 children, living in monogamous families in Ouayerma 1, one of the neighborhoods in the city of Sikasso, in the the third administrative area of Mali.
They are working with the Soro Yiriwaso micro finance institution in order to meet the needs of their customers and this is their fifth loan, after correctly repaying the four preceding loans.
They sell seasoning, shoes, peanut butter, perfume, incense, firewood and make local non-alcoholic beverages, etc.
With their new loan, they plan to purchase 6 packages of seasoning, 1 truckload of 10 tons of firewood, 1 dozen perfumes, 2 dozen shoes, 10 kg of ginger, 1 sack of sugar, 8 kg of gueni seeds and magnon to make incense, and 150 kg of peanuts to make peanut butter. They get their supplies in the Sikasso marketplace and in the neighboring villages. They sell in Sikasso out of their homes, either in the markets and near the main roads, or in the neighborhoods in a traveling manner. They sell for cash, retail and on credit to a clientele made up of men and women.
They each envision a monthly profit of 45,500 CFA francs, of which a portion will be used for savings and to meet the needs of the family, and the other portion will be reinvested in their activities.
They plan to have more capital to better satisfy their customers and to build a sales area.
