Sara is 59, and she lives with her husband and two of their four children in the Caserió La Zaranda in the Pítipo district, which is located 45 minutes from the city of Chiclayo.

She is a beekeeper. For five years she has been selling the products she collects (honey, pollen, and bee glue) in the entrance to the Santuario Histórico Bosques de Pómas, a natural area protected by the state. Many tourists visit the area. She also goes to various regional fairs to show her products.

She has 20 beehives (hives or apiaries) on a piece of land that is located a half hour from where she lives with her husband. She goes to collect the products with a particular frequency, depending upon the product. For example, she collects honey two or three times a year, pollen every three months, and bee glue every month. She then purifies the products and puts them in bottles in a small shop that she has in her house. She offers the products to her customers on the week ends. However, in the spring she sells everyday. Her products are sought after in the cities of Chiclayo and Lima.

Sara is asking for the first time that our Institution give her a loan for 1,200 PEN. She plans to buy containers and labels to be able to maintain her business during this spring time, which is when she has to sell her merchandise the most.

Her biggest desire is to expand her shop in order to keep bottling more products and give work to people in her area. She is very loved and respected by her neighbors, and they consider her to be a happy woman who is devoted to her work.
