Mr. Seu Lorng Village Bank Loan Group

Mr. Seu Lorng of the Mr. Seu Lorng Village Bank Loan Group lives in Kdei Ta Hok in Kandal province where he is president of the village bank. He has selected ten villagers to participate in the bank’s loan program, all of whom are using their loans for different purposes. Five members in this group have end-of-term loans while the rest have conventional loans requiring monthly payments.

Seu is a farmer who cultivates rice on his land. His wife, Mrs. Cheiv Breuch, is a weaver and pig breeder. Now she wants to expand her pig breeding business by purchasing more piglets. Mr. Seu Lorng is requesting a loan for this purpose.

End-of-term (EOT) loans are Angkor Microfinance Kampuchea's (AMK’s) main product because it is the most beneficial to Cambodia’s poor. Borrowers are not required to pay any principal on the loan until the end of the loan’s term. It allows them, however, to repay portions of the principal whenever they are financially able to do so. Most clients start to make payments months before the end of the loan term. Almost all of AMK’s clients make their payments on time. AMK has a delinquency rate of only 0.09%, and a default rate of 0% with Kiva.




About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee. Under this arrangement, each member of the group supports one another and is responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. Learn more
