Exodus Group

Doris is 42 years old. She is married and the mother of three children. All her children are currently in school. She is a trader and sells vegetables and spices like cabbage, tomatoes, onions, peppers, etc. She always works hard to meet her target, and through her hard work she has acquired lots of marketing and selling experience.

Doris takes delivery of goods from the surrounding villages and retails them to her customers in the main community market. She sells her goods on top of a table that she sets up at the market. She is requesting a loan to buy large quantities of cabbage, carrots, tomatoes, onions, spices, etc. to upgrade her stock.

Doris is the leader of a trust bank group called “Exodus.” The members of this group are petty traders, food vendors, etc. In this group, members guarantee repayment for one another as social collateral in order to access the loan, and as peer pressure to repay the loan.
