Regina Mwakajoka

Mambo (greetings) from Tanzania! This is 35-year-old Regina Mwakajoka from Mbozi. She is married with two children aged 6 and 12.

Regina has been running a sunflower seed business since 2001, purchasing sunflower seeds and selling them to oil producers. She works at the business for 9-12 hours per day, 6 days per week and is assisted by three employees. She currently earns about 200 USD from her business.

Regina is requesting a loan in order to open the same business at a new location. In the future, she plans to improve the quality and range of her product. Regina thanks you for your support!

Customs and traditions in Tanzania make it difficult for women to own land and assets, thus they are termed non-creditworthy by financial institutions. This leads to poor financial support and poor access to basic needs and services for women with low incomes.

One of the primary advantages of micro-leasing is that is allows clients to use the equipment as collateral for future loans with SELFINA, thus enabling them to borrow larger sums in the future.
