Plank Field Good People Group

Plank Field Good People, led by Joseph Fallah, is a group of five borrowers living and working in New Road, West Point, a very poor neighborhood near downtown Monrovia, Liberia. Joseph is 56 years old, married with five children ranging in age from 8 to 29. Their levels of education are range from 5th to 9th Grade. Joseph is illiterate.

Joseph sells construction wood, which he buys wholesale, to the residents of West Point. He has been running his business for 19 years, and his dream is to build up his wood business until he can sell it in order to buy a pig farm. Joseph started this business with a small amount and needs more funding to improve his operation. With the profits from this business and the pig farm, Joseph dreams of sending his children to school and living in a better environment.




About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee. Under this arrangement, each member of the group supports one another and is responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. Learn more
