Ntowor Group

Ntowor is a group of five borrowers, led by James Samah, who live and work in Westpoint, a very poor neighborhood near downtown Monrovia, Liberia. James is 42 years old, and married with five children aged 15-30. He also cares for his siblings. He is a 7th grade drop-out.

James’ business is his dry goods shop. He buys building materials such as locks, nails, glue, wood planks, etc. wholesale and then sells them to the residents of Westpoint in a small shop. He has been running his business for 19 years. His dream is to expand his business and become a big businessman. James is requesting a loan to buy more building materials to serve his customers in Westpoint. With the profits from his business, he dreams of sending his children to school so that they have a better future.










About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee. Under this arrangement, each member of the group supports one another and is responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. Learn more
